KAPPLER FLASH FIRE/CHEMICAL RESISTANT SUIT, FANTASTIC SHAPE, $2,700 RETAIL!!! This Kappler Reflector suit has a broad range of resistance from flash fires to caustic chemicals and even corrosive gases. It passes the entire ASTM F1001 battery of tests with no breakdown in suit integrity, even after eight hours. This is a front entry, single-skin suit (Kappler model 46450). We've closely inspected this, there's no rips, tears or holes. All the seals seal, all the zippers zip fluidly, all the valves work properly and all of the suit's stitching is in tact. The only thing we've noticed is a bit of what looks like scorching on the palms of the gloves, but it looks just like surface scorching, nothing that has gone all the way through. We roped one of our new assistants into getting inside this suit to pose for the photos. He said it's surprisingly easy to get into. Our assistant is 5'11" and as you can see from the photos, there's still plenty of room (of course, he wasn't wearing any breathing apparatus on his back which the suit can easily accommodate inside). This is an extra large suit and according to Kappler's size charts, it should easily fit a person up to 6'4" in height. The silver gloves are detachable and slip over heavy plastic hand inserts that are sewn into the arms. The boot liners are also made of heavy plastic and sewn into the legs. Unlike the gloves, the suit didn't include any slip over silver boots - boots were chosen by the occupant depending on the hazard. The clear, plastic face shield is also made from heavy duty plastic (might be more than one layer) and is both heat and chemical resistant. The face-shield is firmly sewn into place and there's no splits or tears around the face shield. Beyond the intended hazmat use, this suit has many possibilities: join the clean-up crew for Hoarders, tackle cleaning that bathroom that no one dares to enter, get automatically approved as a volunteer firefighter, become the king of all barbecues, build bond-fires from the inside out, act out your NASA fantasy or just survive global warming.
