LARGE 10.5 INCH DIAMETER THICK HIGH PURITY ROUND ALUMINA CERAMIC RAW STOCK SETTER PLATE DISK No.:178 You are buying ONE (1) only of a Large Diameter Thick High Purity Round Alumina Ceramic Raw Stock Disk or Setter Plate. It is in good condition ready for diamond machining. They are made from 96% purity Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) which of course is Alumina. Generally the balance of composition for this purity Alumina material is of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) which is Silica. One face of this plate has diamond machining witness marks. It does not effect the performance of the piece. This material has very high hardness, very high stiffness, very good corrosion resistance to chemicals at high temperature, and very high refractoriness or use temperature. They may be used for a variety of electrical, mechanical, and thermal applications. They may be used as setter plates for firing parts in a kiln. The may be used for high temperature furnaces and as high temperature refractory turntables. They may also be used for jewelry or for applications requiring high wear or abrasion resistance. The thermal shock resistance is not very high so exercise rule of thumb caution. “The larger the piece of material the slower the rate of temperature increase should be applied to the piece.” Heat up slowly to avoid cracking in use.
