Up for your consideration is this large lot of vintage machinist punches/tooling. I don't claim to know what this group of tooling is, but there are some center punches and a few transfer and die punches. This lot came from the box of a machinist who worked long ago at the SCOVILL Button factory in Waterbury, CT. This place made buttons for uniforms in the Civil War, so it has a long history. I am guessing, but could some of these punches have been used to assemble certain buttons or snaps? It's an interesting lot, to me. The first photo shows 45 "punches", mostly all have no maker's name. The 2nd photo shows a SCOVILL sticker found inside the box. The next four photos (#3-6) I try to display the ends that show different angle cuts or holes or sharp points or edges and so on. Photo No. 7 shows 60 pieces of smaller size. Not sure if any or all of these are punches. Please help me identify, if you can. Good luck. All fit nicely in a Small Flat Rate box for $6.
