Back in the day, when I worked at a TV repair shop, there was a technician who was obsessed with lasers. He actually built a handheld laser (it was a small laser TUBE back then) and eventually started a company. Years later when the shop owner passed away I was given much of the test equipment and parts as the family had no use for them. Among the finds was this laser controller made by RedLine Laser Products! I pulled it out of storage a few weeks ago and found that it is still working. Up for auction is the main control unit, the "BEAMSCAN XYP-1000", a 25 foot long connecting cable, and an assembly with two motors that control two mirrors. To test this unit I took a laser I had laying around and pointed it at the center of the lower mirror so that it would bounce up to the top mirror and out the side and onto a white screen. I do not have the manual for this instrument but the keypad is somewhat intuitive (who reads manuals anyway?). By trial and error I found that if I turn the unit on with the power switch and press "run", then "seq" and set it to "000" and hit "enter" that the unit will go through a preprogrammed sequence of about a hundred patterns. The unit controls the mirrors such that they will make lines, circles, squares, and a plethora of other shapes with names like "warp", "gotcha", "horiz scan", and so on. There are also two audio input jacks on the back for feeding in line level audio (SEE THIS CONTROLLER IN ACTION:CLICK HERE SEE THIS CONTROLLER IN ACTION:CLICK HERE SEE THIS CONTROLLER IN ACTION:CLICK HERE
