Leica Reichert Jung Cryocut 1800 Pathology Histology Refrigerated Microtome w/ Knife Holder Tested and Guaranteed Condition This Cryocut 1800 is complete and ready to use, but it has some cosmetic issues. Powers on, cools down to -34*C and comes complete with a Reichert Jung 2020 Microtome and a Reichert Jung blade holder. I guarantee it will not be DOA. I let it run for over 6 hours and it maintained a -34*C chamber temperature when set at the coldest temperature -35*C. The heated glass lid works perfect to prevent the glass from fogging, but it does have 2 cracks. These in no way effect the performance of the unit, and the glass does not frost, but they are there! There is a chamber light and built in wheels allowing the unit to be moved easily. There are touch controls and LCD display. The mechanical functions of the 2020 Mictotome are smooth when the crank is turned. The crank has a lock button on the side. I replace the cooling fan with an upgraded hi flow server fan. The heated glass is cracked, but it does warm up and does not frost up during use. The sliding glass lid is also hard to open and close when it is cold. It can be opened and closed, but it takes a minute to get the hang of it. I believe this is due to the glass fracturing and expanding just that slight bit, which put it out of square, and that is why I believe it is difficult to operate. Mechanically this unit is fine. It unit powers on, and upon starting the cooling process, the temperature immediately begins to fall. I set the Temperature setting to -35*C and let it run for about 6 hours. It maintained -34*C for the entire time with absolutely no issues. If you know about these units, you know a weak point is the corners on the plastic cover, and this one is no different. I have repaired the corners, and although the repair is visible, it is solid. The 2020 Microtome is solid and performs as it should. The blade holder functions as designed, and is easily controlled with the hand crank. So if you are looking for a solid, budget priced, working system and can live with some cosmetic blemishes, this may be your ticket. Warranty As always, I stand behind every product I sell.
