Al Anderson at the Montana School of Log building will be teaching a 5 day log cabin building class August 15 through August 19, 2016. Students will learn to use the "Bulls-eye Scriber" developed by Lawrence Anderson to learn how-to build a full-scribe, handcrafted log home or cabin. Students will learn how-to get logs, how-to put a log home on concrete foundations, how-to use a scriber, how-to carve scribe lines, how-to fit logs tight, and how-to install windows, doors, roofs and lofts. Al Anderson has trained hundreds of log building students world-wide. The new log building codes 2009 and 2012 have to be seriously considered when building a log home. "Butt and Pass" D-style often does not meet new building codes. Handcrafted full-scribe log building method used at the Montana School of Log Building has met the challenge of several structural engineers during 2015. Montana School of Log Building methods were used in Alta. Wyoming - permitted by Teton County in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The log building methods at the Montana 'School of Log Building are based in this current engineering knowledge, known as best practices. The Montana School of Log Building offers 12 hours of online instruction via 6 set DVDs entitled the "Video Course." It gives people an opportunity to gain "Prior Knowledge" before attending Al's 5-day log building class.
