The automatic ambient control adjusts & corrects for the atmospheric ambient refrigerant in the vicinity of the tip.  Entirely automatic.  Only a simple on-off switch is required.  A computer like beeping sound increases in both speed & frequency as you approach the leak.   High efficiency pump Finds leaks in contaminated atmospheres Super sensitive. Responds to minute traces of halogen gas (3PPM) 1/2 oz/yr leak rate Auto set control re-sets to any ambient level Cordless, operates on two C cells (not included) Sensor not poisoned by large doses of refrigerant Instant on - no warm up Constant power indication No dangerous or poisonous gases are generated Long, stainless probe for hard-to-reach areas Made in USA Used but not abused condition, you can see scratches on metal rod(see pic) but when I turn on I hear a nice, healthy, steady beep with the red light on. Can of course be returned(at my expense)if found to be not working as it should. Has small nick mark just below model number(see pic). Case has some speckling, metal buckle area has some surface wear, sometimes a bit hard to open, the Instructions are printed on side of unit, comes with new, extra tip located in battery compartment(see pic).
