The triple track magnetic stripe swipe card reader, manufactured by MagTek, is black, has a bidirectional configuration, and a built-in USB cable to connect to the host system. This reader can be mounted to a counter or surface and read the magnetic stripe on the back of a credit, debit, or another magnetic stripe card that meets international standards. The reader's magnetic head has an expected lifespan of up to 1,000,000 card swipes. To transmit card data and power the reader, plug the USB cable into a USB 2.0 port of a computer or another host system (sold separately). An LED indicator turns red to alert the user of a decoding error. Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption feature of this reader helps protect transaction data and prevent unauthorized access. The built-in USB cable measures 6' long and can be used to transmit card data and power the reader. Adhesive strips can be used to mount the magnetic card reader onto a counter or another flat surface.
