PRODUCT DESCRIPTION MagTek USB HID 3-Track Mini Swipe Card Reader HID Compatible (Black) - 21040102 The MagTek USB HID 3-Track Mini Swipe Card Reader is a compact magnetic stripe card reader with a single read head that conforms to ISO standards. A card is read by sliding it, stripe down and facing the LED side, through the slot either forward or backward. A built-in 6 foot USB cable allows for connection and compatibility with any PC, computer, or terminal with a USB interface, and also serves as the power source so no external power supply is required. Unlike HID keyboard emulation readers, this device does NOT use keyboard emulation. It behaves like a vendor-defined HID device so that a direct communication path can be established between the Host application and the device without interference such as keystrokes from other HID devices. Magnetic Swipe Card Reader is compatible with any PC, computer, or terminal with a USB interface Features a single read head that conforms to ISO standards and that can read up to three tracks of data Read head includes bi-directional card reading abilities so card can be swiped in either direction with the magnetic strip facing the front Reader is powered through the built-in 6 foot USB cable so you never have to worry about an external power supply Includes an LED light for device status and to show whether or not a swipe was successful Reads encoded data that meets ANSI/ISO/AAMVA/JIS Type 2 standards and others such as ISO track 1 format on track 2 or 3 Compatible with USB specification Revision 1.1 and HID specification Version 1.1 Can use standard Windows HID drivers for communications.
