Marconi Instruments Limited describes this item as follows: "This excellent modulation meter measures amplitude (AM) modulation for carrier frequencies between 4 MHz and 400 MHz and frequency modulation (FM) for carrier frequencies between 4 MHz and 1.2 GHz. IF and demodulated outputs are available and external oscillators can be used in place of the internal one." I have had this instrument for a long time and have only used it once. It has an unbroken calibration sticker still on the front panel. Limited testing was conducted on the instrument using a HP 8640B generator/counter as shown in one of the photos. The generator frequency appeared where it was supposed to on the Marconi band dial (See photo showing setup). Amplitude level changes on the AM signal from the HP generator were observed on the Marconi modulation meter. Although the Marconi instrument appears to be working properly, it has been setting for a long while without operating and has not fully been tested. Thereby, it is sold as is; bid accordingly.
