This tonometer was in regular use in our animal hospital.  It is in good operating condition.  We upgraded to the newer model available from Dan Scott & Associates.  This model needs to be calibrated daily, an easy task.   Simply hit the power button twice, then hold upright as directed.  In about 15 seconds the display changes to "UP",  rotate the unit to point up and the display should then read "GOOD".  You can see on the pictures that the unit is calibrated.  To measure intraocular pressures, it is best to place topical anesthetic on the eyeball.  Then tap the cornea very lightly.  You will hear a light beep sound.   Repeat several times and you will get a measurement with the range  of values.  We do not accept the readings unless they are within 5 percent.  (I tested the unit on an inflated exam glove to act as a balloon and took a pic of the resulting reading).  It takes practice to develop repeatable technique . . . let your veterinary assistants learn to do it!  An open box of tonopen covers will be included with the purchase.
