Mepilex Border with Safetac Technology 4" x 4" (10cm x 10cm) Box of 5 FREE Shipping Mepilex border 4" x 4" self adherent foam dressing, 5/box pad size 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" Mepilex Border refers to a type of dressing which is used in minor wounds or injuries. This consists of self adherent properties and comes along with a soft core made of silicone for dressing the wound. The Mepilex Border is great for small injury areas as it adheres to the skin and helps to absorb the exudate from the wound effectively. It also helps to promote a moist surrounding to the wounded area which helps it to heal faster. Mepilex Border self adhesive dressing - composition The absorbent portion of the dressing is made of three parts A– thin foam like sheet of polyurethane, then comes a layer of fabric after which is the layer of polyacrylate fibers which together form a super absorbent composition. This core is then placed on a film of polyurethane and kept in place by a perforated layer of silicone adhesive that is spread to the margins of the dressing pad. The adhesion of the Mepilex Border prevents maceration of the peri-wound area by preventing the exudates of the wound from spreading to the sides. Mepilex Border self adhesive dressing - benefits The beneficial properties of the Mepilex Border are several which is why it is highly used for self treatment of small injuries as well as in medical units. The Mepilex Border is made of Safetec technology. This prevents the bandage from sticking to the wound area but adheres itself to the surrounding skin to protect the wound. Such a dressing can be kept on a wound for as long as seven days and it can be used as a inner layer to a large damaged area. This helps to prevent trauma to the wounded as well as the wound when the dressing to a larger area needs to be changed frequently. This type of border as found in Mepilex Border allows a dressing or bandage to conform to the body shape and hence, can be used on areas where it is often difficult o keep on bandages which come off due to the body contour. The possibility of the skin around the wound being macerated is decreased with such type of dressing due to the presence of the high absorbent pad. For patients, Meplex Border self adherent dressing is convenient to use. Then again, it can be kept handy for used as a primary or secondary form of dressing when the wound area is large. Once the wounded area is covered with Mepilex Border dressing, one can safely go about oneA’s daily activities such as wearing and removing clothes over the wounded area and so on. One can even remove the dressing to inspect the wound and put it back on without fear of allowing infection to the wound.
