Neuromechanical Innovations Impulse IQ Chiropractic Adjusting instrument five years old now; I paid $5595 for it. It now functions like a normal Impulse instrument but not the IQ model.  It does not shut off after reaching maximum release but it DOES shut off after the standard 8 to 10 cycles per contact.  Unlike the less expensive ($895) Impulse it does adjust to changing cycles per second and that is demonstrated on the multicolored LEDs on top.  I suppose you could have it repaired to original laboratory specs but I did not need anything more than these specs.  I am turning 65 and have two of these and my practice is not that busy, so I will be making do with only one Impulse.  My smaller practice at this time results in a great price for this instrument for someone!
