New single to 3 phase converter / starter /  dephaser 1-3 HP 220-250 VAC 60HZ. These units do not produce 3 phases from 2 phases continuously to drive a three phase motor. They work by delivering a temporary third phase during startup only and once the motor gets going it disappears. Then the motor works single face which is why it produces only 2/3 of the power on the motor name plate. Not intended for use with air compressors or hydraulic pumps. Connection is easy, two phases go in to L1 and L2 plus ground and three wires come out to the motor plus ground. If rotation is not correct, reverse L1 and L2. Then it can be mounted to the side of the mill or a wall close to the machine. Reinforced with a start relay that extends the life of the sensing relay unlike those enclosed units that don't show the insides. POWER and START indicators (turn off if not in use to extend life and not waste power). Built in the USA in a sealed plastic enclosure to keep out solvents, cutting fluid and other liquids that can accidentally or occasionally get sprayed on it to prevent fires or electrical shock (be safe and install it as far away from liquids as possible, many things influence fires and electrical shock including vapors and the high voltage present inside and out the unit). These units are designed, built and reinforced for long term use and life (and priced accordingly), if all you require is a stop gap unit one can be bought for around $50. 72 hour "BURN IN" test on all of them before packing.
