Niagara Machine & Tool Works was established in 1880, in Buffalo, N.Y. by the middle of the 20th century, Niagara was building stamping presses, press brakes and other similar types of heavy industrial production equipment for metal forming. For over 100 years this company built many of the machines that stamped out the sheet metal parts that were to become automobiles, appliances and countless other items. At some point the name was changed to Clearing Niagara. Around 2000 or 2001, Niagara’s factory in Buffalo was closed, and about half the equipment sold and shipped to China, according to a post on the Practical Machinist website.
