For Auction:  A vintage Gamewell-Peerless fire alarm box telegraph for Station 1 - 2 - 2 - 3, somewhere in Texas.  1 - 2 - 2 - 3 was the automatic message from this alarm when pulled.  The two cast fire-alarm cast enclosures shown in the last pictures are not part of the auction and only shown to amplify how this device  was used.  These telegraphs were placed in street side fire-alarm boxes raised up much like the more familiar  coin operated parking meter.  The magic of these telegraphs were that each telegraph was given it's own  location ID to identify exactly where it was.  In this one for auction, the wheel is coded to identify it a specific location.  If a fire was reported, the control lever was activated and the code "1223" was sent to the Fire  Department duty station.  Some boxes also included a bell which would ring for a period of time as well.   Others just sent the code. Made by the Gamewell Company using Peerless telegraph units.  The large black coil is part of the  non-interfering mechanism.   If  2  fire alarm boxes on the same circuit are pulled at the same time, the  first box pulled will send out 4 rounds of its box code while the other box will turn but not send out anything.   When the second box senses that the first box has finished, it will release the pulsing switch and send out  4 rounds of its box number.  With the non-interfering mechanism, one box will not interfere with another. Condition:  Used and appears "as removed from service".  We see no damage or rust or other annoying issues.  The mechanism is quite amazing under test as it sends its message for a long long time.  Electrically, consider this untested as we don't know how it was wired up.  It is sold as a vintage collectible, strictly as is.
Condition Used :
An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or store return that has been used. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Seller Notes Used, good physical condition. The telegraph mechanism is very clean as it is under the dome cover. Spring winder seems okay and we see absolutely no damage. This is untested though and sold as a vintage collectible, as is.
