This excellent rebuilt Oliver 299-D planer was recently discovered in a storage facility from a closed classroom where it was never used for production. Mechanically, it is in remarkable condition, showing minimal use. The chain feed sprockets still have the black oxide coatings on the wear points. In this era of Oliver planers, the chains and feed systems are enclosed and run in an oil-filled cavity, which gives them a long service life. To restore the planer, we disassembled it and removed all old paint and filler before repainting it with two-component primers and DuPont Imron paint. The feed rolls and chip breakers were cleaned, bead-blasted, and polished. We installed new bearings for the cutter head and new chip breaker springs. Then, we serviced the Reeves variable speed drive and installed a new belt. Finally, we inspected and properly adjusted everything to factory settings. The gear and feed cavities were cleaned and refilled with new top-quality Mobil oil. New cutter head knifes were installed and set. All it needs is a cord and plug, and it is ready to go. If desired, we can install a cord and plug to meet the requirements of your shop for the cost of materials.
