This unit uses a  Ribbon  to print on the labels, NO MESSY INK !   This unit was set up and working in a   Levis industrial plant.   The Tower is called a heat sublimation tower made to cure sublimation inks into the label material. The label material travels over the heated tower after being printed. As for the wheels on the printing chases; those are indexing number wheels built into the printing chase or element.
