This is a Nice Used Perkin Elmer 2020 Photovac Photoionization Handheld Air Monitor/Detector with Battery. Air Monitor is in Very Good Cosmetic Condition. I don't have the charger/adapter to it so I am unable to test it and the battery it comes with. *The battery may look like its discolored on one side but its just how the sunlight hit it when I took the pic. We offer a 30 day return policy on everything we sell. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Photovac 2020 PID weighs under 2 pounds and has an operating range of 0.5-2000 ppm. The results are displayed within seconds on the built-in LCD (liquid crystal display). The 2020 PID is equipped with a 10.6 ev ultraviolet lamp. An optional 11.7 ev lamp is available for ionizing chlorinated compounds. Up to 1000 data points may be stored in its integral logging memory. The day’s results may be easily downloaded to a PC. The 2020 PID requires little maintenance and is classified as Intrinsically Safe in North America and Europe [class 1, division 1; groups A,B, C, D, Hazardous Locations; temperature code T4, Exia.]   The Photoionization Detectors (PID) and Flame Ionization Detectors (FID) are two of the most3 widely used detectors. The PID uses an ultraviolet (UV) light source to ionize the gas through which the light passes. The ions produced by this process are collected by electrodes, and the resulting current generated is a measure of the concentration of the ionized gas. The lamps used to provide the ultraviolet light have outputs ranging from 8.3 to 11.7 electron volts (ev).   Constituents in the gas sample having ionization potentials equal or less than the output voltage of the source, say 11.7, will be ionized. Ionization potentials of chemical compounds are well known and are available from a number of sources such as the CRC Handbook.   Aromatic hydrocarbons and organo-heteroatoms (such as organo-sulfur and organophosphorus compounds) and most of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have ionization potentials within the reach of commercially available lamps. Thus, the PID instruments find application in detection of those chemicals having double bonds such as benzene, toluene, and xylene. However, the PID does not distinguish between all such carbon compounds or those in a mixture having ionization potentials equal to or less than the electron voltage (ev) output of the lamp. Also, the PID does not respond to compounds having single bonds.   Specifications: Detector ID# 80 Detector Type Commercial Technology Photo Ionization Manufacturer The Perkin-Elmer Corporation Detection State Vapors Current User Environmental Consultants, Industrial Hygenists, Managers, Governmental Regulator Agencies
