| Seller Notes | “Look at the picture for condition. These transformers were pulled from a working neon sign. There is signs of outdoor exposure, slight rust, scratches etc. The rule of thumb is the older the better. When Transformers first started being mass-produced. The companies that made them were trying to make them as long as the neon would last which meant they were trying to make a transformer that would last indefinitely. Then there is the fact that the shunts or the core of the transformer were being made at the time with a much more higher iron content in the metal than that is available or widely used now. Then there is the windings themselves. The copper content in the wire used in the windings was of a much purer nature. So regarding those facts that makes the older transformers much better. And you could even tell by just picking one up they weigh much more even though they are rated for the same output.” |
