The ISO-PUCK transformers are certified to UL60601-1 and CSA STD c22.2 No. 601.1 and are intended for 60 Hz operation only. The transformers are available in three power ranges of 300 VA, 600 VA and 1000 VA for a 117 V/60 Hz line frequency; 240 V/60 Hz is optional. They are designed for a maximum 50-microamp (uA) leakage current, which is below the legal requirement of a maximum 100 uA as specified by National Electrical Code (NEC) and UL 60601-1. Since the ISO-PUCK transformer line complies with the required maximum leakage current for patient care areas, hospitals and other healthcare facilities may purchase commercial-grade computers, printers, monitors and other equipment instead of more expensive medical-grade models, according to the company. In addition, for medical OEMs, the devices can easily be installed in a rack or inside equipment using the threaded insert located on its rear surface. The ISO-PUCK isolation transformer is potted in epoxy compound inside a round steel enclosure with an outside finish of scratch-resistant, off-white powder coated enamel. It's supplied with a two-foot long cord with a North American-style green dot hospital-grade plug for the wall outlet, and a three-foot cord with a hospital-grade receptacle at the output side. Custom length cords and cords with IEC 320 receptacles and/or plugs are available options. The outside diameter of the housings measure 5-1/8 in. (130 mm) for the 300 VA, 6 5/8 in. (168 mm) for the 600 VA and 8 1/4 in. (210 mm) for the 1000 VA. The height of the two smaller models measures 2 3/4 in. (70 mm), and 3.0 in. (76 mm) for the largest model. The 300 VA, 600 VA and 1000 VA modules weigh 8 lbs (3.6 kg), 13 lbs (5.9 kg) and 20 lbs (9.1 kg) respectively. The transformer is installed between the wall outlet and any electrical or electronic apparatus used in patient care areas. For room installation, the ISO-PUCK transformer housing is supplied with a bracket for easy single-screw wall mounting. The user can connect commercially available power strips as needed. Pricing for the ISO-PUCK starts at $190.00, $237.00, and $280.00 for the 300 VA, 600 VA and 1000 VA models, respectively.
