I chose "Seller Refurbished" as , being the original owner of this cross vise , I cleaned and re-greased all the slideways as it is in excellent condition ! All though made in China , this vise is very much heavy duty ; I think I used it 3 times since purchasing it brand new ! Dimensions are as follows : Base is 9 3/8" L x 5 5/8" W x 1 9/16" high , and has (3) slots per side and (1) slot at the end for convenient drill press table bolt down ! ... Jaw Plates are 4 1/2" W x 1" H with a 1 7/16" total depth with an acceptance opening of 3 3/4" maximum with jaw plates & 4 1/4" without jaw plates . The bottom carriage travel is 6 3/16" max & the top carriage travel is 5 1/16" max . Area consumed measurements (how much room it will take) are as follows : Fully opened jaws to whole vise width is 18.250 , jaws closed is 14 1/2" . The length is 15 1/2" when the carriage is opened one way , and 13 3/4" the other way . The height from base bottom up to jaw top is 5 3/8" . The vise boasts a hefty 3/4" diameter ball screw & the carriage ball screw is 1/2" diameter to control their movements via dovetail sliding design . The dials on the movement handles have convenient graduated numbers . Both slideways are equipped with (3) screws for the convenient tightening of the gibs which by the way can be adjusted for easy travel (such as doing woodworking projects) , or tight travel (great for machining of metals) . This is a must have in a small parts shop environment ! The weight of this tool before being boxed is approximately 23# ! There isn't another like this vise that is in this great of condition !
