This applies to most projects unless you are coating over real chrome, polished aluminum, or similar bright substrates. Dormant Colors Require a powder coating clear top coat,  to bring out the final color. Dormant colors will turn silver in the oven when first cured, after you clear coat, the color will bleed back into the clear coat to give you an old school candy finish. Metallic & Pearl colors require a clear coat for extra scratch and MAR resistance. Clear coats also help make the metallic content really stand out and give the color more depth. Cure Tip: Preheat your oven to the recommended cure temperature of the specific powder coating product you are using. After you have powder coated your part and placed it in your preheated oven, now watch for the coating to liquefy or flash over, and remember this time will vary depending on the thickness of your substrate. Once you see the entire part turn to a liquid state, then you start your timer for 20-25 minutes and this should always be a full cure. All of our products cure times and temperatures listed on our website, packing slips, TDS sheets, and product labels are by PMT (Part metal Temperature). For example 375f/15 Min @ PMT means that you don't start the 15 minute timer until your powder coated part actually reaches 375f inside the oven. Refer to the above tip for a general rule to use if you are not checking your part temperature with an infrared gun.   Trouble Shooting Guide Cure Test (MEK) Universal Impact Test Gloss Measurement Film Thickness Cure (PMT) Tip   You may be interested in our other listings on eBay.
