PRIOR SCIENTIFIC with 0.7x, 1.4x, and 4x Greenough objectives Stereomicroscope (Stereo Microscope) with Incident and Transmitted Light Base This is an attractive stereomicroscope, providing sharp 3D images, with dual base allowing for both transmitted and incident lighting. Dual stage clips are present, as is a relatively large frosted glass stage plate. This microscope has three, insert and replace, dovetail objectives, with 0.7x, 1.4x, and 4x magnifications, on a slider (see photographs). It comes with dual matched 10x widefield eyepieces (10xW.F.). With these eyepieces the magnifications available on this microscope are 7x, 14x, and 40x. It has built in illumination for transmitted light. It has a British plug, appropriate for its manufacturer Prior Scientific, Ltd. of Cambridge England. The power and lamp can be adapted for the US or other country’s mains. The instrument comes with dual substage mirrors. It is supplied, as are all Greenough stereomicroscopes, with dual porro prisms. The Greenough microscope is named after its American inventor Horatio Saltonstall Greenough. This stereomicroscope is approximately 13 inches tall in working position. Its working distance at 0.7x is approximately 4-1/4 inches. Its base is approximately 6-1/2 inches wide, at its widest point. It weighs about 8 pounds, 3.6 ounces. The picture through this microscope shows a portion of the face of Ben Franklin on the front of a US $100 bill. The bill is not included in this sale. Perhaps because of its quality construction, and optical performance (see photographs), this Prior Scientific.
