Rare 19 C Gilding tool rosewood & equine tooth complete as found Description   A  beautiful Victorian Hardwood handle Gilding tool . This beautiful item has a Hardwood handle with a brass ferule and is fitted with an Equine [ Horse ] tooth as a smoothing / fitting tool for gilding into details, it may have had use in book binding ect..The shape allowing a endless array of angles and surfaces for use .This is a hard item to research and  at the present I cannot find another , they appear to have been in use since the Medieval Period , this fine item believed to date from the mid 19 c . The  item approx 8 cm long x 2 cm wide at the round handle ,the tooth width 1.7 cm approx .  This is a must have for the antique tool collector or gilder , it will look super in any collection .    Ideal for a museum or similar .
