Our Process Finishing Printing Considerations Specifications Copyright Step (1) At the top of this listing select Material, Colour and Finishing. Step (2) Then enter a number in the 'Quantity' box to cover your object's volume. For example, if your object's solid volume (which excludes cavities) was 67.9cm³, enter 14 (i.e. 14 * 5cm³ = 70cm³). Instantly check your STL's volume and print cost here. Step (3) Email an STL file of your design to ebay@thinkitmakeit.co.uk together with your eBay ID (so we can match design with order). If you'd like us to convert your CAD file to an STL please use our CAD design service. Step (4) Your print is on it's way! Please also be aware of the limits of this 3D printing process. For more information click the 'Printing Considerations' tab above. We are here for your prototype drafting, DIYing, hobbying and architecting ideas. And if you have the idea but not the CAD skills, check out our £10 flat rate eBay CAD design service. You think it, we'll print it. This 3D printing process requires printing temporary support material if there are overhangs (to support the overhangs as the plastic hardens during printing). You can either choose to remove the supports yourself (requires a little patience and sandpaper) or you can opt for our 'Support Removal' service via the Finishing options at the top of out listing. Acetone Vapour Smoothing is a finish particular to ABS plastic (and includes the 'Support Removal' service). Here the object is exposed to acetone vapour for a short period of time which 'melts' the surface of the object thus smoothing its texture. However it must be noted that this is not suitable for all applications because together with smoothing, this process also reduces the surface resolution. (1) Please note that this 3D printing process in some cases can produce blemishes from support structures; fraying at certain types of overhangs; seams; blobs and streaks. (Check out our finishing services.) (2) Be aware that if your object is designed to be used in a way that it will undergo forces other than its own weight that you've considered structural strength of the shape your design in various directions. In strength applications consideration needs to be made for the fact that the material as printed isn't homogeneous; for example the object will tend to be stronger in tension in the X-Y plane (as printed) than in the Z direction. The balance between amount of material and strength (in compression, tension and torsion) is a common engineering challenge is often not easy to get right first time. (3) The design must fit within build volume of 27x29x25 cm. (4) For structural integrity and printing accuracy, walls will have a 1mm minimum thickness and solid volumes will be printed at a density ranging from 20-100% (if you would like us to optimise this please get in touch). (6) Should you be unsure of any aspect of your design please send us a message. Print Tolerance (X And Y Axes): 0.1mm Print Tolerance (Z Axis): 0.25mm (we can vary this from 0.075mm to 0.35mm depending on object) Build Volume: 290mm x 270mm x 250mm Print Surface: Heated borosilicate glass bed covered with PET film Maximum Operating Temperature (Extruder): 240 °C Maximum Operating Temperature (Heated Bed): 120 °C Currently Supported Materials: ABS, PLA and NinjaFlex (Coming Soon: HIPS, PVA and Wood Filaments) If you want ideas with ready-made design files that you can freely download and submit for printing with us, give Thingiverse a look. It goes without saying that you must have copyright to the design you want printed. Thingiverse is great because any design with the 'cc' symbol will allow you to print that design with us, and for a lot of cases you'd even be able to use it commercially (for more about cc symbols go here).
