Relive the days when "typing" meant you had a personal connection with the machine. There is no computer keyboard or mobile device that can match the feel of an IBM Selectric typewriter. Use it for chores that are difficult to perform on a computer printer...labels, forms, envelopes, etc., or write someone a snail-mail letter personally typed. If you make a mistake, no need to start over, simply hit the correction key, retype the letter in error and continue on. The IBM Selectric was the Cadillac of the typewriter industry and the workhorse of American business and government offices throughout the sixties, seventies, and early eighties. This IBM Correcting Selectric II is the 15" width and dual pitch (can use both 10 and 12 pitch {characters per inch} elements). It came to me from a gentleman that said he bought it reconditioned and barely used it since. I'm always skeptical of "reconditioned" but this one had been upgraded with several late Selectric III IBM parts, kept covered, and was in excellent condition. I don't know that IBM remanufactured Selectric II's (they did remanufacture Selectric I's) but this one certainly appears as though it was very professionally gone through, if not by the factory then by an IBM technician...and now reconditioned again by me. It's been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, sound dampening material replaced, high wear parts checked, replaced, and upgraded as needed and critical adjustments checked. A high failure (due to age) nylon part had been previously upgraded with a metal replacement. Several critical mechanical sub-assemblies have been disassembled, cleaned, lubed, reassembled, and adjusted. It's been completely lubricated using modern synthetic lubricants that resist drying out and gumming up with age, a new IBM ribbon and lift-off tape installed, and every function checked and tested extensively - all performed by an IBM factory trained and experienced technician. Included is the cover, an additional new IBM Hi-Yield Correctable Film Ribbon, IBM Lift-Off tape, Operating Instructions, an IBM Prestige Pica 10 pitch and an IBM Prestige Elite 12 pitch element. It will be properly secured and well packed for shipping. The frame will be bolted to the cover for shipping as IBM originally shipped, instructions for unpacking included. 30 day parts and labor warranty. Return for repair or refund.
