The sealing cavity can be used to adjust the total weight. Painted cast iron weight has a chip-resistant paint that is corrosion-resistant and conforms to NIST Handbook 105-1 standards. The weight meets NIST Class F specification for commercial "Legal-for-Trade" weighing operations often required by state and local weights and measures officials, device installers and service technicians.
