We recommend this coop for up to 4 to 5 full size laying hens depending on breed and size. If you have bantam chickens this will hold up to 7 of the mini ladies. You may not know this if you are new to chickens but if you own up to 5 chickens or so all of them will lay there egg in the same nesting box. That is why this unit has 1 nesting box. (what is anodized aluminum? It is aluminum that has been electronically dipped in a finish to keep it from ever oxidizing from outdoor weather. This makes it always look great even after years of exposer to the sun and weather) Strong 1/2 x 3/4 inch spaced powder coated aluminum welded wire mesh for the run area. (the strongest material ever used for a chicken run that we know of) Latches and barrel locks for both the coop and the run areas. Double doors for large openings to both the coop and the run area. Simple wooden ladder stairs included for the chickens to get from the coop to the run. (you may want to paint this) Slide out base tray for easy cleaning. Just hose it off and replace with fresh nesting material. Properly vented to keep fresh air in the coop. The entire coop is washable with a garden hose and poop comes right off of aluminum and polycarbonate. (ever tried to clean chicken poop off of wood? Impossible) Large nesting box with rear door and latch for easy daily egg removal. Nesting box is 17.5 inches tall by 13 inches wide by 13 inches deep. (coops that have a roof door or front door for egg removal means the chickens will peck the crap out of you when you try and get the eggs) Proper size and round 1.25 inch wide by 33.5 inch long aluminum perch for roosting/sleeping. (ever tried to clean poop off of a wooden perch? Impossible, you may as well just throw it away) Includes mobile wheel kit, making it a mobile chicken tractor you can move around your yard. Wheels are 5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. Included is a simple board "see photo" to section off the coop from the run. What is this for? 2 reasons, it can block the chickens from the run when moving the coop and it can close off the area to keep the body heat in and the cold out on cold winter nights. Coop ships mostly unassembled. Includes the only tool needed for assembly, an Allen wrench. This will take an average skill builder approximately 2.5 hours to build after unpacking. Unit comes boxed with vague instructions. After your purchase we email you a clear easy to read PDF file with great written and pictured assembly instructions to make it much easier during assembly. Building it will take some time. When you are done you will be impressed on how well it is built.
