The RTR-4 digital x-ray system lets you look inside, quickly and safely. The system is designed to help law enforcement, military, customs and security personnel search for explosives, weapons, narcotics and other contraband. The system can reveal the contents of parcels, baggage, boxes and crates, vehicle tires and body panels, aircraft walls and wings, building walls, and many other targets. The RTR-4 system can be a valuable aid in assessing and defusing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and unexploded ordnance (UXO) by helping personnel evaluate objects from a safe distance and identify the best method for disposal. The system can also be an effective tool for non-destructive inspection of hardware components, assemblies and structures. Features The RTR-4 system consists of a lightweight, compact x-ray source and imaging unit that are positioned on opposite sides of the target object, plus a standard notebook computer for controlling the system and analyzing images. The control computer is connected to the imager by an Ethernet cable or optional wireless connection. The system is fully digital for fast viewing, no image degradation, and easy image analysis and management — far superior to film and analog systems. The RTR-4 system is designed for a use in a wide range of field scenarios. The system can be used in tight quarters, right down to ground level. With a total weight of just 12 kg (26 lbs), the x-ray source and imager are easy to move into position by hand, and can be mounted on bomb-disposal robots for remote operation. The standard RTR-4 system includes the following components:     X-ray source: The standard source can penetrate more than 25mm (1 inch) of steel. A more powerful source is also available.     Imager: The standard imaging unit provides high-resolution images up to 20 x 25cm (8 x 10 in). A larger imager with an area of 40 x 56 cm (16 x 22 in) is also available.     Control computer: A standard notebook computer provides system control and image-analysis functions. The computer is supplied with SAIC's RTR-4 database and image-analysis software, available in many languages. The system comes in a rugged, padded case on wheels for easy transport.  The RTR-4 software provides a variety of features to bring out items of interest in x-ray images, including zoom, pseudo-color, contrast stretch, edge detection and sharpening, smoothing, embossing, and histogram equalization. These features can be applied to the entire image or to a specific region of interest. The system also provides multi-image display, grid overlay, point-to-point distance measurement, and annotation. Images are stored as standard TIFF files in the system database. Video, audio, text and other data can be stored along with each image. Individual images and accompanying data can easily be extracted from the database for emailing or other uses.   This unit will not be shipped outside of the US due to US Arms Restrictions (ITAR). This unit will only be shipped to customers in the United States of America.  _gsrx_vers_586 (GS 6.8 (586))
