This appears to be an vintage Sargent & Co. No. 8 steel wing divider with a good snug brass and steel pivot joint. There is a strong, flat steel spring between the sharply pointed legs. All parts; screws, nuts, springs, etc.; are in good working order and appear to be original with good threading. One leg point is curved inward, and not knowing if that is a Sargent feature I left it as found. The curved point does make it easier to scratch a circle around that leg. The legs measure 8.5" top to pointed tip. The legs can close to 1/2" and fully open to 11" before leaving the wing. The divider has the look of original metal patina with a little hidden rust and pitting, very minor staining and darkened color on the steel surface. The wing divider has history and careful usage written all over it. This steel wing divider is capable of being used right away as a very nice layout tool or as an eye catching exhibit in your vintage tool collection.
