GREAT MOVIE PROP! This is JUST the EMPTY container, NO PLUTONIUM IS INCLUDED. It is NOT a HAZARDOUS ITEM, Just a METAL CONTAINER! Geiger tested CLEAN! Ok with that out of the way, This is an Extremely rare item just in time for Halloween! This is what everyone needs to store that extra strong (nuclear grade, thermal-pulse roasted, maybe gamma irradiated??) coffee or that loose plutonium core they found while cleaning up the lab. Don't you hate it when that happens... It is an UNUSED old stock primary containment canister for storing a single plutonium weapons core assembly commonly called a pit. The pit would have been nested inside this canister with a special boron or cadmium loaded plastic supports, and then the container would be welded closed with a tig welder or yag laser. The special filter on the top lets the helium and hydrogen generated from the pit out, but prevents water vapor, oxygen, and other things from getting in and ruining the pit. These containers would then be stored a few at a time in very heavy, protective, fireproof,  foam and lead lined drums. Interestingly enough, WEAPONS GRADE plutonium only emits weak x-rays that would be mostly shielded by this container alone fairly effectively; it is a nearly pure alpha emitter. It is the secondary gamma emissions from the neutrons interacting with the boron and/or cadmium that the lead on the outer drum is really intending to block. When the core is needed, the can would be chucked in a lathe like spindle and cut open with an overgrown version of a pipe cutter. I repeat this container is unused! If it were used, the container would have the cut marks and remains of weld bead on the cap, and would have been given to the NRC for disposal rather than listed on ebay. But just to make extra sure, it has been checked with a geiger counter and wipe tested. It is as cold a cup of ice water, no radioactivity at all. In fact, you really could use it as a coffee container if you like, as the steel was made by a company that now specializes in stainless steel cookware. The irony in that made me laugh so hard i almost fell out of my chair. Anyway, this is an extremely, almost impossible to find item. Great gift for that mad scientist or nuke worker you know. Sorry you international buyers, this item has to stay in the states- Gee, I wonder why.... I have lots of other nuclear related items, lasers and other unique stuff for sale this week.
