SCRAP SALE This auction is for the various pieces of 1144 Cold Finished Steel Rounds. The pieces shown in pic are the pieces you will receive.  One Piece 2-3/16", TWO pieces 1-31/32" and TWO pieces of 1-3/4" New steel, just needs to be cleaned up. Great for projects and lathe work. Other auctions up with smaller and larger sizes along with 1018 Square and Hot Rolled Steel. This is NEW STEEL but light surface rust will vary from piece to piece.  This material is a higher-strength alloy than 1018 or A36, with improved ductility. The chief feature of 1144 steel is that it is specially treated to relieve the stresses set up by the cold drawing process resulting in  very low distortion or the tendency to warp after machining due to a combination of its chemistry, method of manufacture, and heat treatment. 1144 is relatively easy to machine, with a machinability rating of 83% of AISI 1212 steel. 1144 cold roll bars have high strength hardness, without the need of heat treatment.  1144 has the combination of free machinability, minimum warp, high strength, and a good wear resistance not found in ordinary metals.
