This is a 3” lathe with a total 15” bed made of solid brass.  It comes with the original instructions, a Joe Martin thread cutting attachment including all of the gears, a hand wheel for thread cutting, an AC/DC type 120V motor with speed control*, a 3 jaw chuck #1041 and miscellaneous tools.  I purchased this from Brookstone in the 1980’s and never was happy with the performance.  The speed control* was always very “jerky” at low speed and the shims either allowed too much flexibility of the tools or made the wheels too stiff to operate properly.  I mostly used it to cut threaded standoffs to length or make plastic parts for various projects.  The tread cutting feature was handy for female threads.  My electronics hobby never made much use for the tool.  Well, now I realize I haven’t used it in fifteen years.  I have already made good use of the space in that storage cabinet.  If you have a lot of time and work on small parts like model steam engines and want to spend a little on upgrades for this it is right for you.  It cuts most metals quite well.  It was very time consuming turning down stainless at about three thousandths per pass.  Aluminum and brass went real well by comparison.  Hint, pieces you made fifteen years ago of magnesium will become very ugly, but, still light as a feather. There are a few dings on the bed by the chuck where things would fall out and bang the bed.  Fortunately the tool holder never goes that far cause it would hit the chuck.  I don’t know if the bed is the same dimensions as the newer models that are not brass.  It looks the same in the images of those lathes, but, you may want to check that if you plan on buying any new options that run on the bed.   I sell and ship only to the USA.
