The Simpson 260-6XLPM is their special VOM which has several features: 1) ABS plastic case for high impact resistance 2) Low power resistance ranges ( RX1 & RX10 ) for checking semiconductors and low current fuses. The present 8XLPi (yellow case ) does not have this feature. 3) Larger meter face 4) Overload protected The present unit ( 8XLPi ) with a mirror scale retails for $370.00 This Simpson 260-6XLPM is in excellent condition and recently sold for @ 400.00.The unit shows very little use and no cracks, chips or engravings, It has overload protection, mirror scale, and includes new leads/clips, batteries and operators manual. This is not like 98 % of the units on Ebay that are usually a mess, uncalibrated and many functions do not work. If you want the very best, this is it ! Note: The Simpson 260's I place on Ebay are not, "as is", "condition unknown","untested", " seem to work ", etc. Most units listed as such usually require extensive repairs and many times are only good for parts. Even the so called " New " units I have acquired usually have a problem or require calibration. My units are cleaned, meter movement balanced, parts replaced where required and completely tested. Major blemishes and repaired cracks are noted. Most units look like new and include leads ( @ 35.00 ) and operators manual. The units I list are for the serious tech or collector. I have shipped well over 500 units with no returns and complete customer satisfaction. Please check my feedback. FYI : A refurbished Simpson can serve you as well as new for two major reasons. Unlike jewel movement meters Taut band movement have no jewels that get erratic or stick in one position. The taut band has what could be considered a floating needle with no friction points. Secondly, Simpson uses metal film, 2% tolerance resistors that have a proven long term life.
