Balconies and flat roofs are weak points in a structure and are therefore very vulnerable: Their no. 1 enemy is water penetration that, because of faulty construction and sealing, or due to wear and tear over time, finds its way under the coating and damages the concrete, the iron reinforcements and the ceiling plaster on the underside of the roof surface. Treatment by traditional methods may require the complete removal of the roof coating - something that involves high costs and lengthy repair times. SKERMO TERRAZZE is a state-of-the-art latest generation product that was designed with the objective of sealing balconies and flat roofs that have water penetration problems. This product makes the surfaces hermetically sealed again, protects them from water penetration while allowing them to breathe - all this without spoiling the external appearance of the surface. The product is based on a solvent free compound containing 100% active materials. SKERMO TERRAZZE is a protective, water repellent product that stands the test of time. It can be applied to outdoor flooring such as ceramic, sand stone or porcelain tiles and it can stop rain water penetrating through porous or damaged areas. The product does not affect the passage of air or the external appearance of the treated surfaces. Furthermore, the prevention of water penetration also stops the formation of mould, mildew, algae, lichens and bacteria. Preparation is very simple and only requires the careful cleaning of the surface in order to remove broken parts and other materials liable to prevent the product from attaching to the surface. As part of the preparatory work, the damaged spaces between the tiles are to be filled with flexible grout. Using a paint brush or roller, the material is to be applied to a dry or slightly humid surface. One thing to be ensured: that all of the spaces between the between the tiles are fully soaked. 15 minutes after application, the excess material can be removed using a clean cloth. The treated surface can be walked on again after 16 hours from application. 1 litre covers about 15 m2 of surface tiles. The guarantee applies for a ten year period on the effectiveness of the sealing from water penetration and also applies to results deriving from freezing - thawing and on the penetration of aggressive and saline elements.
