SPEED CO STAPLER - VINTAGE BLACK ART DECO LOOK - WORKS! VERY nice vintage stapler from the Speed Products Co.  Based on the company name, this stapler was made somewhere between 1933 and 1956.  Prior to 1933, the Company (which was founded in 1925) was called the "Parrot Speed Fastener Company"; in 1956, the company was renamed Swingline.   Stapler is black with a nice Art Deco look to it.  It works very well, but the body of the stapler does show some wear, which you can clearly see in the pictures - mostly on the bottom part.  It measures 4" tall and 6" long, and about 2" wide.  The plate is marked "move anvil" - it slides back & forth as the arrows indicate.  The bottom of the stapler is marked "Speed Products Co / Long Island City / New York ".  You can see most of that in the picture, but the mechanism covers the rest.  You can see it by tilting the stapler side-to-side when you hold it.   There are also 5 patent numbers listed on the side of the bottom - the numbers are 110796, 110797, 110798, 110799, and 110800.  This is a top-loading stapler, and the inside says "Use Genuine Swingline Staples / No 3 or No 4".  The top-loading stapler was first developed by the Speed Products Company.  Very nice addition to a collection!  Questions, please email.
