Used Stenograph Stentura 8000 machine. I am a working reporter and tested this machine today. Writes to disc, also works with real time cable (not included) or wireless device such as a StenoCast. All keys make contact & function well. It has some issues, but is ultimately functional and actually writes well and has a decently firm (but not hard) touch when writing. Issues: One of the little tabs on the front cover is broken off, although it does not hinder the opening or closing of the cover, or the function of the machine. Please see photos. The back where the paper would feed through is bent/askew. I write paperless, so this wasn't an issue, and it didn't cause any problems when writing wireless. I did try it with paper a couple times & it worked, but the paper did sometimes get caught up. Please see photos. The biggest issue, and the reason I didn't keep it as a backup (even though it has the nicest touch of all my machines) is because the port on the back where it attaches to a StenoCast or real time cable is pushed in about probably 1/4 inch, which makes it difficult to secure the cable or device, although I am able to attach either, and they work. They're just hard to attach because the outer casing gets in the way. Please see photos. For these reasons this machine is bring sold AS IS, for parts or not working. However, it is a great machine for a student or even a working reporter if you can get past the cosmetic defects and the issues listed above. Listing is for machine ONLY. Does not include power cord, tripod or paper tray. There is a battery, although it doesn't really hold a charge. I also write paperless, so there is no ribbon cartridge. Sorry, but no returns accepted.
