We are selling a Surface grinder, Thompson CNC controlled surface grinder with a electric chuck... 12 x 36 ........ pulsating D magnetizing ability the company/computer installer, that put this control together for the federal government, at Cherry Point North Carolina, this computer integrated company is still in business and has all the numerical control components spare parts the phone number is still active that's on the control. I would seriously consider trading for a light-weight three Axel car carrier with good tires and clear title, I can use that in my towing business, for towing car back to ins companies. By  the way this machine can ran as a manual or CNC, either way. We can have load & deliver, at a cost of right at .90 western  rolling  miles to .95 cents a Northern rolling mile plus tolls if any.this would include the cost of picking up and loading this unit, the approximate weight is somewhere close to 16,000 pounds. Of course you can have someone else at your convenience load onto your truck or a commercial truck of any nature, but I'm sure they will quote you a price for picking up, loading, delivering and unloading. They would likely be able to deliver within seven to 10 working days after funds clear our bank. In either case, we can, if necessary, quote you a price for setting up the machine at your facility and training qualified individuals on the proper operation. The original manufacturer of this unit can supply you with and operating manual/parts manual also. The neat thing about this particular grinder; first of all, the Thompson's unique way of raising and lowering the head on a massive heavy-duty column, makes it one of the most accurate surface grinders on the planet. What I mean by that, basically I am a grinding expert, some grinders hop and skip across the part, especially during the spark out stage this affects the accuracy and the finish. You'll be hard-pressed to find that activity on any Thompson surface grinder, mainly because of the rigidity. Okay one other plus; this has a taller column than you would likely, find on most surface grinders allowing it to grind a much taller higher item, thus allowing you to machine/manufacture a more rigid type of fixturing, whether a indexing table or just a straight fixture, some grinders only raise up 12 inches or so maximum sum less than that. Okay, someone had asked about a longer stroke. I have two of these units both virtually identical except one has the longer stroke. I would like to get $11,995 for that particular one in Martinsville and the other one is in Richmond, Virginia. My nephew wants to buy one or the other one I think he wants the 36 inch stroke unit, because it is at the maximum weight he can haul. But I do have identical, surface grinder, with a 36 x 12 Chuck, but it has over 40 and maybe  even 42 inches of stroke some inches of stroke. Both units are identical in every respect except for the actual stroke. The one pictured as indicated is a 40 to 42 inch stroke by 12 inches across. The longer stroke may  have a weight of approximately 3500 pounds more and it appears to have little or no use. As the magnetic table appears to have never been dressed/cleaned up/surface ground. Okay if that's not enough here's another plus; you can program everything at this simple control unit, designed with only surface grinding, in mind and there is still a manual/parts manual available from the phone number you see on the control. What that means is everything including the actual dressing of the wheel can be done while you're in process of grinding your part, the computer automatically compensates itself for the amount of dressing of the wheel that had just taken place when everything finishes, it cycles back to where you tell it to cycle back to so you can use your squeezy and scrape off the chuck, for loading of more parts. Grinders of this caliber listed here on eBay are in the $40,000 to $80,000 range and up and that's not new that's used, please feel free to scour, eBay, the Internet, and indeed the entire planet. please let me know how that turns out.  When I bought this grinder from the military, it was acquired at a value of $17,519  the price the military paid for this grinder is likely well over $120,000 plus dollars. I had planned to put this jewel into service, as I have another one that is completely manual and the same exact model, without CNC and it works marvelously. But recently I fell 14 feet headfirst onto asphalt pavement and I suffered a concussion, four broken ribs, forr bruised ribs and a broken shoulder blade, needless to say, at the age of 66, my recovery is quite long and quite intense. My wife and I both decided to give up this business and sell everything lock stock and barrel for approximately 55 % of fair market value haven't said that the first person that pays $5,900 for this 12X 36 CNC complete automated surface grinder, with spare parts available from the number listed on the control panel feel free to call them. Both machine has been stored outside under tarp and the control has always been totally sealed. The intention was to move it in next to our other Thompson surface grinder. Please scour the Internet for a heavy duty CNC surface grinder of this weight horsepower metal removal rate and accuracy, plus I have a new Cincinnati wheel you can have also, look everywhere, and if you can find one for under 50 or $60,000 with this type of rigidity inaccuracy in size, please please let me know. Now I'm not talking about one of those cheap KENT type Taiwanese, Korean knees, China knees, Philip oh Knees, Indian, oh Knees or Japan oh Knees, that you can load on your pickup truck and take home; this machine probably weighs in the neighborhood of 15 to 16,000 pounds, likely to weigh three times maybe four times those ball bearing way type grinders, I've ran those type a grinders and it is night and day comparison. and the larger one with extra height extra stroke will come in somewhere around 18,000+ pounds. Surface grinding can be one of the most time-consuming processes in a machine shop environment. It also sometimes is the most necessary just to grind fixtures, flat and parts that you are seeking to get polished finish and accuracy. an absolutely necessary. When the part has been heartened, thus acquiring some warpage needing to be flattened. You can use a service writer to sharper and our manufacturer various types of tooling like but not limited to progressive dies, brooches form tools. There is even attachment you can put on a surface grinder, allowing you to center less grind parts. Indexing fixtures can be used when you have an extra tall grinder like, the extra length grinder I have for sale. Don't straddle yourself with a light duty minimal metal removal machine. a very large [electricity power company], wanted to set up their own machine shop and started purchasing some of those types of equipment from the countries named above and ended up purchasing a Kent  surface grinder, five years later, the machine was practically like new with the exception of the dust and dirt, and it had accumulated extremely low hours, because it was rarely used and almost laughable. some days, requiring 14 to 24 hours to remove metal off of the plate to make it flat, which really never occurred because of the ways.
