Thomas & Betts once had a utility division within that division they sold cable cutters #UT366FR for use on potentially hot cables. The FR represented “Fiberglass Re-enforced” as is shown on the handle it was tested at 100 KV per foot for 5 minutes. The tool will cut up to 1000MCM copper or aluminum “ONLY”. Although this tool has not been extensively used and is nearly new – because of its age it should not be used on energized cables. Actually when it was absolutely new it was not recommended for use on live/energized cables, however if needed it could be. The tool will be shipped in a T&B metal case, although the case was not originally for the tool it is perfect for protection of the fiberglass handles, for storage or transportation in trucks etc. There is no manufacturer warrantee and all liability is the responsibility of the buyer/user.
