The Practical Mechanic's Journal, Volume II, April 1849 – March 1850, published in Glasgow, Scotland, by Practical Mechanic's Journal and Patent Office. 8 x 10 inches, 288 pages. This ORIGINAL bound periodical from 164 years ago is in very good condition. The front and back boards are edgeworn and slightly soiled. The spine is cracked at the front flyleaf, and the front board is almost completely detached – there is only an inch or so of paper holding it to the spine at the bottom. The pages are clean and free of marks, but the paper is yellowed and somewhat brittle. There is some foxing, but not bad except for the front and back pastedowns. There are a dozen or more foldouts throughout, which are crisp and clear, including of the River Clyde at Glasgow, The docks in the harbor at Glasgow; Melling’s Iron Twisting Machine, and Remond’s Envelope Machine. There are many articles discussing railroad construction, locomotive manufacture, the application of iron to boats; various types of steam engines and machine tools; and a wide variety of other machinery and technical topics. Please note this is an ORIGINAL, not a reproduction.
