Adaptor Plate for ER Watts / Hilger Watts / Cooke Throughton & Simms Theodolites These adaptor plates are in demand. When they are gone they are gone. Cheaper than a new Tripod, what we have here is a very sought after adaptor plate which will enable you to fit any ER Watts, Hilger Watts and Cooke Troughton & Simms theodolites to a more modern tripod which uses the 5/8 inch dia Screw. This adaptor plate is a very useful tool which will allow you to secure your instrument on most tripods, and not just on the original. Although there are many instruments around, finding the original suitable tripod can be a bit of a problem. This adaptor plate just screws into the base of the theodolite, and allows you to use a universal more easily obtainable tripod. As I restore old instruments, I have frequently been asked where these adaptors can be purchased. Unfortunately they are very difficult to obtain and are not cheap. Machining the adaptor to size and cutting accurate Imperial Threads is very time consuming, and also requiring skilled labour. With this adaptor plate you would also be able to secure your Hilger Watts ST 156 to a universal tripod. As an Instrument Technician previously working for Wild Heerbrugg and trained at their factory in Switzerland all my instruments and parts are thoroughly checked before being put up for auction.
