· Description: -You are bidding on a Union Manufacturing 3-jaw lathe chuck, which is 10” in diameter and has a scrolling adjustment style. The chuck is stamped on the top and bottom plates as “12310”, perhaps indicating the model number. It is also stamped “A3882”. -The chuck comes with an adjustment key -The company logo is stamped, along with the place of manufacture as New Britain, Connecticut. -The chuck has a backing plate, which I believe is threaded at 8TPI. -Please note: The unit must deliver to a commercial address, due to residential weight restrictions) [see shipping details below] -Here are some specifications: · The chuck is ~10” in diameter · The chuck is ~4” thick · The jaws on the chuck are ~3.375” long, and ~1” thick · The through-hole of the chuck itself is ~3” in diameter. The clearance through the bottom hole in the backing plate is about 2.4” · The upper section of the backing plate has a diameter of ~7”. -I don’t know too much about the device, and only recently acquired it, but I did test out the scrolling adjustment mechanism with the key, and the six-jaws moved in-and-out pretty smoothly. The chuck item appears to me as in good original condition, but I have not tested it on an actual lathe etc. Also please note: -As I am no expert on this sort of industrial item, please have someone properly trained in handling these types of chucks inspect the unit prior to usage to ensure safe operation, as appropriate for the particular application it is to be used for! Cosmetically, the chuck appears to be in pretty good used condition and shows some moderate wear, including: · Some minor scuffs, scratches, and light surface rust on the chuck as well as on the key · There is a threaded “GREASE” port on the top plate of the chuck, which is missing its small protective cap. · There is also a small threaded hole on the side of the chuck, which could be used for lubrication or something, but please review photos to determine whether it may also require a small replacement “plug” or anything… Please email with any questions!
