Vintage ALMOND No. 7 DRILL CHUCK Shank & Key Never Removed From Sealed 1953 Box 'Til Now - Estate Fresh From Old House! - This early 1950s drill chuck comes to you estate fresh from an old Jersey City, New Jersey home we recently liquidated (one of those types of houses where generations never threw anything away). Found packed away in one of dozens of basement trunks & boxes, this lot has sat undisturbed for decades. This chuck, shank & key have never ever been removed from the dated 1953 box until I did so to shoot images for this listing! If you follow the images in order you can see the much-layered packing process for this baby. Someone in the family was employed at the Military Ocean Terminal Bayonne during the Korean War era which is probably where this originates. It looks to have a rather complex label from the contractor, T.R. Almond Mfg. Co., Ashburnham, Mass. The pieces inside are still coated in their oily goop stuff as to keep them in nice shape until needed . The chuck turns w/ key, but it's quite tough, so I’ll leave it to you, the discerning collector, to apply lubricant to loosen it up if desired. Again, this box was sealed until I carefully opened it to examine and photograph contents. I'm not an expert on items like this, so I've included large images below for your grading needs. IMPORTANT NOTE: I’ve got a quanity of two of these (so buy one or both). The one that I did not photograph is still sealed in package.
