 This listing offers the vintage piece of sterilization equipment from the American Sterilizer Company of Erie, Pennsylvania.  I know very little about this piece, but will describe it as best I can and let bidders judge from their own knowledge and the pictures. Item is being sold as found. I have given it a quick cleaning.  I was told by a knowledgeable source that this is a soft good sterilization container. It was found with gauze bandages inside. It must have been placed in some type of steam or electric autoclave, as it has no heat source of it's own. There is a moving band on the outside of the unit that allows vent holes to be either opened or closed. It operates smoothly. The lid is sealed or opened by a slide latch on top that works great. There is a handle on top for transport.  The base of the unit is just over 9 inches in diameter.  It does not appear to have punctured the integrity of the item. The item is about 8 1/2" tall and weighs about 5 1/2 lb.  There is minor corrosion on the item and scrapes and scratches.
