Brandt Automatic Cashier Company - Brandt Coin Counter & Packager  #RCA 87660 This piece of coin collecting history has been in my family since our coin-collecting days back in the 1950's.  We used to buy several 100 dollar's worth of pennies, nickels, and dimes from the courthouse clerk every month or so, that had been collected from our downtown pay-parking meters, and sift through all those coins looking for something of value.  This wonderful invention made it possible for us to quickly package up all the unkept coins and return them to the bank.  The machine has been in a closed cabinet in my home for the last 60+ years.   After cleaning off the dust, and administering a little well-placed oil to some of the moving parts, it basically works almost like new again, and still looks fantastic (as you can see in the pics).  The only thing that isn't working properly is the little "coin count reset" lever that sticks out towards you on the right front of the machine.  Typically, once all the parameters are set for a particular coin (1c, 5c, 10c, etc.), and coin count to fill wrapper (50, 40, 50, etc.), you just crank the handle, the pre-set number of coins fills the tube/wrapper, and the wheel quits cranking out coins after that set # of coins has been reached.  You then remove the filled wrapper, crimp the ends, put the finished roll of coins to the side, and start over again.  At that point, to re-set, you push that lever to the left, it clicks, and resets for the allowed number of coins for the next turn of the crank.  What is happening now is that the lever, when pushed left to re-set, feels a bit "spongy" and does not give that hard click sound that indicates that it has been re-set for the next cycle - and the coins keep coming after the assigned coin number limit has been passed.  I'm guessing there may be simply a bushing or rubber gasket of some kind that has deteriorated over time, but don't really know how to fix it myself.  Someone with knowledge of these machines could probably get to the heart of it, fix that one problem, and have basically a perfectly functioning machine.  As I said, this appears to be the only thing not working properly.   I tested it with Quarters, Nickels, Dimes, and Pennies, and it cycled them all through the turntable spinner with no problem.   As noted before, this antique Brandt manual counting machine is in excellent overall condition, and includes the 5 original coin tubes: 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent, and 50c, as well as the stand.   The top tray is removable for easy storage.  Please see all photos and email with any questions. Due to the weight of the machine, delivery is only available via (free) local pickup. It is my sincere hope that this unique piece of coin-collecting history can find a home with someone else who is ready to enjoy its magic!  Or just enjoys owning and displaying a little bit of numismatic history.   Many thanks for your interest!
