This smoker is in very good condition for being well over 100 years old.  Pumping the bellows produces a strong blast of air. The "Clark cold blast" smoker was invented in 1879, by Norman Clark, of Sterling, Ill.  It conducts air directly from the bellows by means of a tube, to a point inside the fire-box, ahead of the fire, not through it.  This produces a blast of cold air filled with smoke.  This cooler smoke was thought less likely to agitate the bees. The last picture, #12, looking down into the small end of the fire-box, shows the internal "cold blast" tube.  It is 1 3/4 inches in from the opening.    No international sales on this item.
Condition Used :
An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or store return that has been used. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Seller Notes Picture #3 shows the original condition of the bee smoker. The internal spring that keeps the bellows open and the leather flap over the back hole are original to the smoker. The wood front and back panels of the bellows are original as well. Of course, the conical metal fire-box is also original. I primed and painted all the external metal parts. I attached a new leather piece to the wood panels, making the bellows operational.
