Unfortunately, the 'Return' key, 'U,' and '1/2' keys don't work. While all other keys fire, sometimes an incorrect key may print. Similarly, the carriage return isn't advancing as it should, resulting in unclear letters. It's unclear whether this issue is with the carriage or another function in the machine. Additionally, there are times when the keys will auto-fire 2-3 letters when pressed. Despite these minor setbacks, the Rare Vintage IBM 95 Electric Typewriter boasts of excellent cosmetic shape, with an overall rating of 8 out of 10. All keys and the body of the machine have been thoroughly cleaned. The keyboard and body are in excellent shape with only slight signs of wear. However, the internal components may require cleaning as they appear dusty. Lastly, the top of the typewriter's body is loose and cannot latch to the bottom, creating a small 1/4-1/2 gap between the two halves. The foam inserts inside the body are brittle and may fall out easily in clumps. Though the writer removed them from inside the top cover, many still remain inside the body. A slightly sticky tape residue is also present on the bottom of the machine.
The typewriter powers on and keys will fire and the ribbon works, but there are several issues. The ‘Return’ key, as well as the ‘U’ and ‘1/2’ keys don’t work. All other keys fire, but sometimes prints the wrong key. Also, the paper sample appears to show that the carriage return isn’t advancing to produce clear letters; not sure if this is the carriage or some other function that’s causing it. Also, keys will auto fire 2-3 letters when you press it. Finally, the top of the body is loose and I can’t get it to latch to the bottom half, resulting in a small 1/4-1/2’ gap between the bottom/top. The foam inserts inside the body are brittle and will easily pull out in clumps; I removed them from inside the top cover, but theres a bunch of them inside the body. There’s also slightly sticky tape residue on bottom
