The vest uniform reemerged in the late 1950’s when Ted Kluszewski couldn’t fit his biceps into the sleeves of his Cincinnati Redlegs uniform. Kluszewski cut off the sleeves to his uniform and started a trend that was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 1960 season. The Pirates surged through the National League in their new uniform, capturing their first pennant since 1927 and defeating the Yankees in a dramatic seven game World Series.
