Vintage Pro CRT TESTER /REJUVENATOR-Model 466! +MANY A1 PROBES! Commercial/INDUSTRIAL ~Full name is "B & K MODEL 466 CATHODE RAY TUBE TESTER / REJUVENATOR". It is a "Product of B & K DIVISION OF DYNASCAN CORPORATION" of Chicago, Illinois. ~Tester is very clean, has no damage, and looks quite nice. It shows itself to have always been respected and treated well. Also well-stored and well maintained. I don't have the means to test it, but it does turn on. Was reported by the previous owner (see below), an electronics repair man who used it regularly, to work well. Please also be sure to read notes above. ~Includes several intricate, complex, and complicated testing adapter/probes (visible in photos). They all fit into their own protective space, separated and covered with a strong lid that securely latches shut. This space also conveniently stores the electrical cord and plug. ~Some SUPERB additions to this whole kit are the detailed, well-written "INSTRUCTION MANUAL", and the equally informative and complete "SETUP CHART" booklet. Manual is copyrighted 1970. Setup Chart Booklet covers and provides specs for both black and white and colour picture tubes. ~All this, along with the testing unit, fits nicely into a wonderful hinged hard-shell case that buttons up tightly and securely. Strong handle is extremely handy. It makes moving, transport, set-up, and take-down a snap! Case is 13-1/2 inches long, 5-1/2 inches wide, and 10 inches tall, including the 3 protective feet. ~PARAPHRASING MANUAL: "WHAT THE MODEL 466 WILL DO": 1. Will rapidly test a cathode ray tube (using CRT manufacturers' accepted techniques and safeguards) for all the important factors which determine the quality of a tube. Will check for shorts or leakage between the elements in the tube and will also indicate between which elements the fault exists. 2. Will check the amount of emission from the cathode (s) and will directly and rapidly indicate relative emission balance between the guns of a color cathode ray tube. 3. Will check the warmup characteristics of a tube. 4. Will repair most common faults in cathode ray tubes, such as shorts between elements, open connections to elements, and inter-element leakage. 5. Will rejuvenate picture tubes having low emission. Model 466 has other capabilities. They are described in next section. PROVENANCE/ BACK STORY: ~At the end of the 1960's and the beginning of the 1970's, this tester was the state of the art. It was a high-end professional/commercial/industrial-grade tester, used commercially by a professional TV/radio repair guy nearby. His shop and his house was located a block down the street from us. ~We got this tester from him, after he retired in around 1990 or '91. He was the local radio and TV repair guy, who serviced electronic units from all around the neighbourhood. Not only did he live and work nearby in his own one-man repair business, he was well-known, well-liked, and had a great reputation. Definitely a real individual and a real character: older, quite bombastic, really entertaining, funny, and a heck of a nice guy! His background was a superb cross between Jewish and Scottish. He wore a tam-o-shanter type beret! (22415I)

“I HAVE NO MEANS NOR ANY TOOLS TO TEST THIS UNIT TO SEE IF IT WORKS. IT DOES TURN ON. AND IS REPORTED TO WORK LAST TIME IT WAS USED. THERE IS NO DAMAGE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. IT LOOKS TO BE COMPLETE WITH NOTHING MISSING. ITEM SHOWS LIGHT AGE AND USE, BUT WEARS IT WELL, COMMENSURATE WITH AN ITEM SEVERAL DECADES OLD OR MORE. IT LOOKS TO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TREATED WELL, AND IS CLEAN. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF ABUSE, MISUSE, OR UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS. I CANNOT BE 100% SURE OF ALL THIS, SINCE I HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRIC/ ELECTRONIC ITEMS. HOWEVER, IT IS ALL TRUE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, BASED ON HONEST OBSERVATIONS.”
